このポッドキャストでは、簡単な日本語会話や文法とその意味をクイズ形式でお伝えしています。ぜひ聞いてみてください。 In the previous session, we learnt about the subject of 'あげる'.
Today's quiz is also related to this.
Which is correct? 前回は、あげるを題材に学びました。
それに関連して今日のクイズです。 どちらが正しいでしょうか。 ①（友達に雑談する）私は先生にお土産を差し上げました ②（先生に向かって）「先生こんにちは。このお土産をさしあげます」 Correct answer is no.1.Did you right? 正解は①です。
あたりましたか？ 'さしあげる' is attached to 'あげる', but it is not an ordinary verb. This is a type of 'KEIGO', a member of the 'KENJYOUGO' language family.
'さしあげる' is one of the most humble words with limited use.
It can be used to convey facts to someone else, as in no.1, but it is not advisable to use it to convey facts to the person in question, as in no.2.
The reason is that it sounds expecting gratitude. This is contrary to the feeling of mutual respect that underlies honorifics. 「さしあげる」には「あげる」がついていますが、普通の動詞ではありません。
これは敬語の一種で、謙譲語の仲間です。
「さしあげる」は、謙譲語の中でも使う場面が限られている言葉です。 ①のように、誰かに事実を伝えるときは使えますが、②のように、本人に事実を伝える際に使うのは好まれません。
理由は、恩着せがましく聞こえるからです。これは、敬語の根底にある「相互尊重」の気持ちに反するので好まれません。 'KEIGO' show consideration for the other person and the situation. Using 'KEIGO' shows that you are a polite and well-mannered person.
In addition, by 'not using direct language', you can interact with others in a considerate manner. 'KEIGO' is never something that lowers you down. 「敬語」は「相手や、その場に対する配慮」なので、「敬語」を使うことによって、自分が礼儀正しい、マナーのある人間であることをアピールできます。また、「直接的な言葉を使わない」ことで、相手に配慮しつつやり取りをすることができます。決して、自分を低めるものではないのです。  I have listed the most commonly used honorifics. I hope you find it useful.  よく使う敬語は一覧にしてみたので、参考にしてください！ それでは今日はここまで。また来週お会いしましょう！  That's all for today. Thank you for listening and see you next week. Bye!

こんなときのにほんご．シーズン2 18「さしあげる」

こんなときのにほんご．シーズン2-19「オノマトペ」 (2022/10/2配信)Hello Everyone. I’m Megumi. How are you going？ This Podcast telles you “simple Japanese conversation & grammar” and meaning of their. There are quiz-style format. Please listen to this Podcast! みなさんこんにちは、めぐみです。いかがお過ごしでしょうか。 このポッドキャストでは、簡単な日本語会話や文法とその意味をクイズ形式でお伝えしています。ぜひ聞いてみてくださいね。 Today’s topic is ‘オノマトペ’. The Japanese language has three types of onomatopoeia: 擬音語, 擬声語 and 擬態語. 擬音語 describe the sound of something, 擬声語 are animal sounds and 擬態語 describe a situation. 今日のトピックはオノマトペです。 日本語には擬音語、擬声語、擬態語という三つのオノマトペがあります。
擬音語は何かの音を、擬声語は動物や生き物の声を、擬態語は様子を表します。 Now, let’s today’s quiz!
Which of the following was a large stone rolled? さて、ここで今日のクイズです！
大きい石が転がったのはどっちでしょうか？  ①石がコロコロ転がっていった。 ②石がゴロゴロ転がっていった。 Correct answer is no.2! 正解は２です！  Onomatopoeia almost always has a pair with or without a muddle.
And words with muddy marks have a bigger, heavier and darker image.
‘ドンドン' means 'knocking on the door' with a loud bang.
‘ゴロゴロ' shows a heavy object rolling around.
‘キラキラ’ brings to mind a bright image. オノマトペには無声音と有声音のペアがあります。
有声音の方が、大きかったり、重かったり、暗かったりするイメージがついてきます。

「ドンドンとドアを叩く」だと、大きい音でドアをノックする、
「ゴロゴロ転がる」だと重いものが転がる様子、
「キラキラと目が輝く」だと、明るい様子が浮かびます。 Repeated expressions also indicate that the sound or appearance is actually repeated.
For example, ‘ころり’ or ‘ころん’ would suggest only one rotation, while ‘コロコロ’ or ‘ころりころり’ would suggest multiple rotations. また、繰り返しの表現は、実際に音や様子が繰り返されることを表します。
例えば「コロリと」とか「コロンと」であると、一回転しただけのイメージで、「コロコロ」や「ころりころり」だと何度も回転したイメージになります。 There are so many onomatopoeias out there, so have fun imagining what they might be describing from the word sense! オノマトペはたくさんあるので、語感からどんな様子を表現しているのか想像して楽しんでください！

それでは今日はここまで。また来週お会いしましょう！ That's all for today. Thank you for listening and see you next week. Bye!
