 These days, due to global warming and other factors, there is a conspicuous increase in abnormal weather in many countries.　One of extreme weather events is 'localised torrential rainfall'.　It is a sudden, brief, intense downpour in an area of small size. Do you know what this is called in Japan?

 昨今は地球温暖化などの影響で、各国異常気象が目立っていますね。 異常気象のうちの一つに「局地的豪雨」というものがあります。 規模の小さい地域で、突発的に短時間にふる激しい豪雨のことですが、日本で、これがなんと呼ばれているか知っていますか？ 

 The answer is “ゲリラごうう”. 

 答えは「ゲリラ豪雨」です。

 It is often used in conversation and may be worth remembering.
