さて、それでは今日のクイズはこちらです。 

Well,let's try today's quiz. 

You are about to leave home when someone says to you, 'いってらっしゃい'. What do you reply? 

あなたが家を出ようとしたときに、「いってらっしゃい」と声をかけられました。なんと返事をしますか？ 

The answer is "いってきます".  

 This is a standard greeting. Japanese people use it as a matter of course, but it may not be common in some countries. 

これは定型の挨拶です。 日本人は、この言葉を当たり前のように使いますが、国によっては一般的でないかもしれません。 

"いってきます" is said that the phrase "I'm going now, but I will definitely come back". Therefore, for example, when a person who has temporarily returned to his or her parents' home leaves, the greetings "いってらっしゃい" and "いってきます" are not said. 

いってきます、には「これから行きますが、必ず帰って来ます」という気持ちがこめられていると言われています。 ですから、例えば実家に一時的に帰っていた人が出て行く時には、「いってらっしゃい」「いってきます」の挨拶はしません。 

If you are doing a homestay or other accommodation, you should definitely try using it.
