OK,Let’s today’s quiz. Today we will consider the subject. 

The following words are all in the second person. Choose the most polite of these words.

今日は主語について考えていきましょう。 

次の単語は全て二人称です。この中で一番丁寧な言葉を選んでください。 

1.おまえ　 2.あなた　 3.あんた　 4.きみ　 5.きさま　 6.おたく 

The answer is “2.あなた”. 

正解は2番の「あなた」です。 

Basically, 'おまえ', 'あんた' and 'きさま' are rarely used. The second person is often used in conversation as 'the other person's name + san'. If you use this, you will not get into trouble. 

基本的に、御前（おまえ）やあんた、貴様（きさま）は滅多に使われません。また、「あなた」も省略される傾向が強く、会話で出てくる二人称は、「相手の名前＋さん」が多いです。これを使えば角が立つことはないかと思います。 

If the other party is an organisation, such as a company, you may also use the term "おんしゃ". The Japanese language has a great variety of personal pronouns. Examples of the first person are "わたし, わたくし, あたし, おれ, ぼく, おら, われ", etc., while the third person is "かれ, かのじょ, あいつ", etc. 

その他、相手が企業などの組織の場合は、貴社（御社）といった言葉をつかうこともあります。日本語は、人称代名詞のバリエーションが本当に豊富です。 一人称の例は、わたし、わたくし、あたし、おれ、ぼく、おら、われ、などで、三人称は、かれ、かのじょ、あいつ、などです。
